A few facts about our SID.

  • It runs off a 12V battery which is good for about 2 days worth of use.
  • It will run on the battery for longer but needs a peak voltage to get started so generally wont restart after this use.
  • It can store up to 1.7 million vehicle speeds... typically 5 days use on one of our roads equates to 14,000 vehicle speeds.
  • The mounting frame was designed and built by a Bucklebury Blacksmith to make it usable in our rural environment.
  • The sign was 50:50 funded by BPC and WBC.
  • The sign measure initial and exit speed in the direction its facing and a single speed in the opposite direction.
  • The only data recorded is date, time and speed.
  • Data is downloaded by blue tooth for analysis.
  • Bespoke short messages can be added for driving below the speed limit and also for driving above the speed limit.
  • High speeds are recorded but not displayed... just a red face
