BPC Response to the Thatcham North East development proposal
Updated 8th February 2021
Bucklebury Parish Council (BPC) has now submitted a collective parish response to West Berkshire Council (WBC) about the proposed Thatcham NE development.
A BPC Working Group (WG) made up of councillors was formed to collect and assimilate parish comments on the proposed development, write a response, and deliver it to WBC by the deadline of 5th February 2021. Parishioner involvement was encouraged throughout this process, and despite the restrictions of COVID, the WG organised several public meetings to allow parishioner comments and questions to be put forward as part of the eventual response.
BPC has engaged a Planning Consultant to help guide BPC’s strategy in response to the proposal.
BPC’s response to the proposal, the Planning Consultant’s submission to WBC on the parish’s behalf, and a brief written summary of the proposal is available in the pdf files below.
This is only the first step in what may be lengthy process as WBC evaluates its future options. BPC will now evaluate its response to date, and this will be discussed at tonight’s Parish Council meeting. BPC will also consider the future role of the Working Group, its likely workload, and its optimum composition of councillors and members of parishioner groups. The next iteration of the proposal is expected in May, so BPC will use the coming months to prepare for that. As part of that preparation, BPC will look to fully liaise with parishioner groups, as well as other affected parish councils and Thatcham Town Council, to forge a united front against the proposal.
