Update from West Berkshire Council Highways & Transport
We can confirm that at present, we have 7 officers inspecting the highway network and 5 dedicated gangs carrying out temporary and permanent pothole repairs on a priority basis across the network. We are endeavouring to carry out permanent repairs instead of the more traditional temporary plugging repairs but it is fair to say that this winter's flood and snow events have not helped in this respect.
With regards to any future improvements, we will ensure that Marlston Road and Carbinswood Lane are assessed and prioritised along with similar sites across the District for possible machine patching. We are fully aware of the condition of Marlston Road but until we have dry surface conditions and the temporary diversion for the ongoing utility works is removed, we will continue to inspect it to ensure that it remains in a safe condition. Likewise, we are also aware of a small section in the hollow on Carbinswood Lane east of New Road Hill which was recently made safe.
