Reverend John Morton (1788 - 1871)

Royal Holloway University, in conjunction with U3A South East, wished to explore the 500 years since the Magna Carta by collecting stories of liberty, protest, power and rebellion by ordinary citizens. This was to be made available via the web to support a GCSE history study and also be available to a wider audience. The idea was to highlight local heroes and heroines and the local struggle for our rights and liberties.

The story of John Morton who saved Bucklebury Common from Enclosure ticked all these boxes. Wynne Frankum collated all the information and research which had been gathered by the Bucklebury History Group to produce this document.
